1 This website collates a set of writing and work during a year of graduate school.
Even Signs Must Burn2
A collection of academic essays concerning Jean Baudrillard.
Publication
2 This project centered on capturing a day in history (specifically, 02.18) through a designed object. I created a set of books, websites, and a poster in response to Chelsea Manning's release of the Iraq logs to Wikileaks.
Atlases3
A series of booklets in conversation with Paul Klee's illustrations.
Publication
✨
3 Using Paul Klee's diagrams as a basis, I composed a set of zines that circulated through Providence, RI, situating myself across the city and its history.
Barefoot Across America4
An archive of Mark Baumer's attempt to cross America barefoot.
Publication
4 I've long admired Mark Baumer's writing and work. When he began to walk across America in 2016, I closely followed on his Youtube channel. Tragically, he died on this trip, and his project seemed unfinished. This book transcribes and organizes his video blog, memorializing the sprawling, funny, brave journey of Mark.
Emoji Beziers5
A collection of collaged text.
Web
🍇
5 This poetry collection approaches type and emojis as two forms collaborating to form new meaning. Here's a link to the site.
Insecure Archive6
A compilation of writing and miscellany.
Publication
6 Inspired by a compendium of "calling cards" from the special collection in the Providence Public library, this book collects writing from across a semester, which interrogates a private/public divide. Through this object, I hoped to pin down the slippery anonymity of the original "calling cards."
How to Rent A Room7
Silky animated type to a set of lyrics.
Animation
7 This memorial to David Berman, the lead singer of the Silver Jews is meant to play slowly across the walls, shifting as one moves through the space.
Holographic Bruises8
A book about the UFC and the 2000s.
Publication
8 This book used a Jon Bois' UFC documentary to discuss labor relations, the end of the 20th century, and "fighting in the age of loneliness."
Spans9
A prickly typeface for prickly publications.
Typeface
9 This variable typeface looked to transitional text faces as models, but created a set of ligatures to disrupt it's prickliness.
84 Evergreen Street10
A poetry collection dedicated to an apartment.
Publication
10 This book project collected a set of prose poems and Silver Jews lyrics dedicated to my apartment in Providence. The silhouettes were of various trees we could see from the balcony. The edges of the book were painted an appropriate silver.
Bad Object(s)11
A collection of insecure objects.
Objects
11 Form structures these "bad objects," reconfiguring the private as something public. Like the "Insecure Archive", this collection began with calling cards and then used the products of graphic design to make strange personal entreaties: an Insecurity Blanket, an Insecuri-tee, Secret porcelain.
Insecure Server12
Conversations through anxiety, insecurity, and gravity
Web
12A server that takes collective insecurities and converts them into manipulatable objects to arrange, screenshot, and collect.
Anxious Praxis13
A scramble to make. Quick writing to quickly capture a mistake.
Web
💭
13 Written and animated in response to a failed attempt at screen printing, this website plays with the browser as a canvas to animate. The cursor become taffy warping around the text. The poster extends this system to print.
Soon(s)14
An app to time travel across blobs.
Web
💬️
14 This responsive web design allows users to input personalized timers that generate a slowly decaying clock. The animation decays at the rate of the timer, visualizing one’s quiet anticipation.
RISD GD Biennial Grad Show15
The Biennial GD Grad show identity designed in collaboration with Robert McConnell and Weixi Zeng
Identity
15 In collaboration with Weixi Zeng and Robert McConnell, the Biennial GD identity offered a responsive system that adapted to context and geography. By using a modular structure, the posters (printed on only tabloid and letters) adapted to the space and could collapse/ expand like an acronym.
Blobology16
Mark Fisher's conversation
with Burial
Web
16 This website reimagines a conversation between Mark Fisher and Burial as a collection of morphing animate shapes, shifting on the scroll.
Compendium(s)17
Collections of writing across graduate school
Publication
17 These process documents attempt to catalog my experience in each course at RISD, using a personal, reflective essay to characterize my own influences and form-making over the course of the class.
